HEREFORDSHIRE should keep lobbying the government to get a fairer share of NHS funding, a health boss has said.

At a CCG meeting Professor Rod Thomson, director of public health with Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said the figures do not add up.

Money is allocated from NHS England to CCGs in the country using a formula.

Professor Thomson said the Department of Health would say the formula is correct and fair.

He said they would say they take into account a higher proportion of older people and accessibility issues, but he said they don't.

Professor Thomson said: "The situation is that Herefordshire is still unfairly treated."

He said that Herefordshire gets £1,701 per head per population but the national average is £1,983.

He said: "There is no reason for saying why there should be an area like Norfolk on £2,000 per head per population while we are on £1,701. My view is we should still be lobbying on it as the figures just don't add up."
