A BROTHER is taking on a heart-warming tribute to his sister with a rare skin condition.

Ashley Davies 22, is taking on a challenge for his sister Tia Davies to raise money for the British Skin Foundation.

This is because his sister suffers from Erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) which means that she cannot be exposed to the sunlight without being covered head to toe in clothing.

Tia, aged 11 of Crofters End, has to wear trousers and long sleeves every day of the year, must ensure none of her skin is exposed to the sun’s rays to avoid getting a painful red rash.

She is also forced to use a special hat and hypoallergenic gloves while outside to protect her face and hands.

Mum Selena Davies first noticed there was something wrong when Tia was just one year old and she burnt her toes very badly despite suncream being applied.

Mr Davies said on his JustGiving page: "In simple terms, prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to swelling and irritation of the hands, face, and feet, rarely with blistering.

"This can also lead to further problems such as liver failure which 5-20% of EPP suffers with liver failure. This is terrible, especially when there is still no cure at all."

Mr Davies is taking on a 109 mile walk from their house in Droitwich to Wembley Stadium, starting on Friday and completing it over three days.
