TWO brothers boasted that they were "the kings of Dudley" before they brutally attacked a man, leaving him scarred for life.

Choudhary Naheim Rashid, aged 43 and 41-year-old Choudhary Tasmin Rashid's victim was grabbed round the neck and strangled, his eye was gouged and he was repeatedly punched during the incident inside a pizza takeaway.

The brothers also told the victim "We rule Dudley", according to Edward Soulsby, prosecuting, who told Wolverhampton Crown Court that the man had been left with a nasty head wound.

In a victim impact statement, the man later told police officers he was fearful because of the brother's reputation in the town and he was concerned about the safety of his family.

He said he had been a man who was "always smiling" but his life had now changed and he was concerned about the brothers coming to get him.

The brothers, both of Blowers Green Road, Dudley, admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Judge Nicholas Cartwright said it had been a repeated and sustained attack, which had left the victim with a permanent scar.

He added they both had aggravating previous convictions and it was clear they had "bragged about their criminal status in Dudley".

But he said the attack had taken place nearly two years ago and because they had both kept out of trouble with the law since, he was able to take a "generous course".

He gave each brother a 19 month jail term, suspended for two years and told them they must obey a four month curfew between the hours of 9pm and 6am.

They were also ordered to pay £300 compensation each to their victim.

Amy Jackson, defending, Choudhary Naheim Rashid said he, like his brother had known the victim's family for many years and he bore the man no malice.

He said he had apologised for targeting the man for violence while Harry Marcus, for Choudhary Tasmin Rashid, said he could offer no real explanation for the violence.
