A SHOCKING video showing a schoolgirl being violently assaulted in a Worcester park has been posted on social media - by the girl's mother.

Ava Brookes was videoed being repeatedly kicked and punched by two girls during the assault in Pitmaston Park.

The video was said to have been taken by a third girl in the 'group' and was then sent to Ava's phone.

Ava's outraged mother Stacey Brookes decided to share the video on Facebook where it has now been seen hundreds of times.

Mrs Brookes claimed Ava had been 'lured' to the park where she was attacked and left with a bloody nose.

Mrs Brookes says Ava had been targeted by 'bullies' since starting secondary school.

"Bullying has had a drastic emotional affect on my daughter and our family.

"She has become withdrawn and snappy, which is not like her.

"She was attacked by an older girl when she was in year 8 at the start of last year, and now she was attacked by a group of girls, after being lured to the park under false pretences.

"She was left with a bloody nose, grazed knees, ripped jeans and bruises, she did not come home for a bit after, as I think she thought telling me might make things worse, which was horrible to think.

"Bullying has always been a problem at schools, but now it does not stop at the school gates because of social media, it is constant, not just five days a week.

"She is sent threats and nasty comments, even during the holidays we noticed that her mood was worse, it is particularly bad from Snapchat.

"I would prefer it if she did not use social media, but we have tried that and it made her even more withdrawn.

"The police have told us it (the video attack) would be enough to get charged with ABH, but that they do not like criminalising children.

"There does not seem to be enough of a deterrent. The police are reluctant to do a lot, and the school don't act on anything outside the school gates. It seems that the zero tolerance policy stops there.

"The school have tried to help."

Christopher Whitehead School Headteacher of the school, Neil Morris said: "We are saddened by the video, it leaves nobody feeling good about themselves.

"This has rightly become a police matter, and the process is still ongoing and will take time.

"I am disappointed the video has been shared so widely."

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Officers received a report on 8 September that a 13 year old girl had been assaulted in Pitmaston Park, Worcester on 29 August at around 2pm.

"The girl received minor injuries.

"Investigations are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident 284 of 8 September."

*We have edited the video to a short clip to protect the children's identities.
