SCHOOLS, residents and businesses have celebrated receiving Evesham In Bloom awards.

The horticultural competition seeks to promote colourful flower displays around the Vale, offering prizes to the best showings.

Amongst the award winners were Swan Lane First School, St Richard's First School, The De Montfort School, St Andrew's CE School, St Mary's School and the Vale of Evesham School.

Rob Batts, deputy head teacher of Swan Lane First School said: "Pupils and staff are celebrating at Swan Lane First School, following the Evesham in Bloom awards on Tuesday evening (19th September).

"The school won a gold award and also the award for the best school floral display in Evesham.

"Children from Swan Lane have worked tirelessly throughout the year to create outstanding spectacle of beds, borders and planters.

"Gardening clubs, an Eco Club and also a whole-school planting day ensured that the school grounds have looked amazing this year."

Local businesses also picked up awards including Amber Cafe, Evesham Train Station, The Royal Oak and Merstow Funeral Home.
