TOILETS at a Bromsgrove pub have been awarded the highest possible hygiene rating by inspectors.
The loos at the Golden Cross Hotel Wetherspoons on Bromsgrove's high street are so pristine they have been given a platinum star in the Loo of the Year Awards 2017 - a ranking given only to venues that offer 'exceptional toilets'.
"We are delighted with the award," said pub manager Cassie Harwood. "Staff at the pub ensure the toilets are in first-class condition at all times and it is great that this has been recognised by the inspectors.”
The awards, now in their 30th year, are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of 'away from home' toilet provision across the UK.
Authorised inspectors make unannounced visits to hundreds of toilets at sites across the UK, grading the facilities from bronze to platinum, with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.
Mike Bone, Loo of the Year Awards 2017 managing director, said: "The toilets at the Golden Cross Hotel have been designed and fitted out to a very high standard and are both clean and well maintained.
“The pub richly deserves its platinum award – the highest individual award the judges can deliver.”
