A WORCESTER family is opening up their home and spreading festive cheer in memory of a much-loved nan. 

Casey Alldrett and her family are honouring her husband Gareth's grandma Silvia Broughton, who died of lung cancer in 2011, aged 74.

With the help of their four children Rio, 10, Roxy, nine, Faye, eight, and Jackson, two, the couple have decorated their house for the festival season and will offering treats and drinks to guests in return for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support. 

The charity cared for Mrs Broughton in her final days. 

Mrs Alldrett said: "Macmillan were amazing. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011 and is was only four weeks from diagnosis to her death. 

"She was caring and loving and she was a mum, grandmother and a friend to many as well.

"We have a lot of older people in the community and quite a few with cancer in the area so we hope they come they come along for the festive gathering."

They are holding the event at 6.30pm on Saturday (November 18) at their home at 44 Stallard Road, St John's, Worcester.
