AN elderly woman who was hit by a car in Redditch has died.

A red Ford Focus was being driven along Colts Lane in Winyates at around 4.25pm on 22 November when the vehicle is understood to have been involved in a collision with the 89-year-old woman.

The woman suffered multiple injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken by road to QE Hospital in Birmingham.

She passed away a short time later with family members at her side.

Officers from West Mercia Police are now appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision.

Sergeant Lee Baker, from the Operations Patrol Unit and who is leading the investigation, said: "I would like to express my condolences to the family at this difficult time. I would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision and in particular passengers on the number 62 bus, on which the woman was a passenger immediately prior to the collision."

Anyone with information is being asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 563s of 22 November.

The coroner has been informed and a file will be prepared, with the death not being treated as suspicious at this time.
