FIREFIGHTERS and police will face off in a charity football match for the third year running in memory of their Bromsgrove colleague, who died just weeks before he was set to retire.

Del Bradley, a firefighter at Bromsgrove's combined police and fire station, died suddenly after suffering a heart attack in January 2016.

Del has been described by his colleagues as a 'very bubbly character', who was close to everyone.

Fellow firefighter Wayne Berry, otherwise known as Chuck, is organising the third 'Copa Del Bradley Cup' in Del's honour for May 4 at Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground.

Wayne said: "Fire have won on penalties the last two years, but the police have pulled in a few better players this year so it's going to be a close match.

"Last year we raised £900 to be split between the Firefighters Charity, British Heart Foundation and Flint House - the police officer's rehabilitation charity.

"We'll have a raffle on the day with quite a few good prizes so hopefully people will come along and show their support."

Raffle prizes include a day pass at Bromsgrove Golf Centre, access to the climbing wall at Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre, a spa day - including two 25-minute treatments - and gift vouchers for Asda and Morrisons.

The match is free to attend. Kick-off is at 6.30pm. Raffle tickets cost 50p each and are available to buy on the night.

Del's partner Louise Chew will present the Copa Del Bradley Cup trophy to the winning team.
