THE joy in William Crew’s smile was enough to convince Moreton Show organisers to make him the face of this year’s poster.

William, 14, was photographed with his Torddu Badger Face ram called Gethin, after winning the Sheep Young Handler competition at last year’s show.

His triumph meant that he followed in the footsteps of his brother, Dougie, who won the same Kleinwort Sisters Trophy in 2016.

For William, the livestock section of Moreton Show is the one he loves the most.

He said: "It’s important for young people to keep farming alive so that it doesn’t disappear for future generations. Taking part in livestock classes has helped build my confidence and it’s taught me a lot about caring for animals."

His dad, Fred Crew said: "We’re very proud of William’s achievements in the show ring with his sheep and to have his picture chosen is fantastic."

According to Lynne Parkes, livestock secretary at Moreton Show, choosing the poster image was easy.

She said: "We always try and promote young people at Moreton Show and this picture shows a young man at the top of his game. Although he’s young, he’s been to many shows and who wouldn’t be impressed by that smiling face?"

Tickets for Moreton Show on Saturday September 1 are now on sale at outlets throughout Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Worcestershire.

E-tickets are also available on the show website at www.moretonshow.co.uk.

Buying early means big savings on ticket prices. Show goers can also save money by travelling to the show on the train and presenting their rail ticket on the Moreton Show gate.
