STAFF at a Halesowen skating shop are once again preparing to rock out when their annual charity music night returns.

SkateHut’s Big Gig is back on Saturday, September 1, when two bands will be performing in aid of Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The Shenstone Trading Estate shop’s gig has become an annual affair, with the previous two years’ events being a huge success and helping to raise thousands of pounds for the hospital.

And the Halesowen team is hoping to hit all the right notes again when AC/DC tribute band ‘Whole Lotta DC’ lead a night of music at Birmingham Street venue Benjamin’s.

Kerrang Radio DJ Johnny Doom has even said Whole Lotta DC are “definitely the best AC/DC tribute band on the circuit”.

A spokesman for SkateHut said: “We are very excited to have Whole Lotta DC heading the event – they really deliver a true experience every time they play, recreating that classic AC/DC sound.

“We will also have a fantastic band supporting playing homage to some of rock music's greatest, whilst retaining an air of unpredictability.

“The Ziggie Paul Band are a Midlands based juggernaut of heavy blues and classic rock, performed by two masters of music and a lunatic.”

SkateHut have also been involved with a number of other events to support the hospital over the last year, including a sponsored run, a local comedy night and an abseil – raising more than £16,000 for the cause.

Tickets for SkateHut Big Gig 2018 cost £7 and are available in advance from the Halesowen SkateHut store or on the doors, which open at 7pm.
