TWO cars stolen overnight during a burglary at a house in Worcester were later found abandoned in Martley.

Detectives are appealing for information after a grey 55-plate Citroen C4 and a grey 08-plate Toyota Yaris were taken from the drive of a property in Lambourne Crescent between 11.15pm on Tuesday and 7.15am yesterday.

The keys to the vehicles had been stolen from inside the house after thieves reached through the letterbox of the front door and removed the house keys which had been left in the lock.

The car keys were among a number of items stolen from the house. The cars were found abandoned yesterday morning on the drive of a house off Hillside in Martley.

Detective Sergeant Dave Knight from Worcester CID said the cars may have been used in another crime before being abandoned.

“Although the vehicles were recovered within eight miles of where they were stolen, we need to consider that they may not have been driven straight there and the offenders could have visited other places in the cars before dumping them in Martley,” he said.

“Because of this, I am keen to hear not only from anyone in Worcester or Martley who saw the cars being taken and then later dumped, but also from people in neighbouring towns who saw these cars in the early hours.”
