A ROBBER used a sharp object to threaten and injure his victim before taking money.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery which happened in and around Mansbridge Avenue, close to Hereford County Hospital, between 6.40pm and 7.15pm on Friday, June 16.

The victim, a woman in her 40s had been walking along a pathway that links Kyrle Street and Ledbury Road and, whilst in the area named 'The Kinks', was approached by an unknown man from behind.

The offender demanded money from the victim, and when she refused, it is reported that he used a sharp object to threaten and injure her before giving him money.

The victim received a number of cuts to her face, fingers and hands, along with minor bruising to her arms. She attended Hereford Accident and Emergency for treatment.

It is believed that the offender made off in the direction towards Kyrle Street.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid 30s, around 5ft 8ins in height and slim build.

He had been wearing a light blue or grey coloured zip-up jacket, blue jeans and an item of clothing covering his face. He spoke English with no specific accent.

Detective Sergeant Andy Duckworth of West Mercia Police, said: "We are urging anyone who may have been in the area around the time and seen anything suspicious to contact police as soon as possible.

"The woman suffered superficial facial injuries as a result of the incident and her personal property was taken.

"Fortunately she was not seriously injured but has understandably shaken by the ordeal."

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity within the area, or has any information which would help them with their enquiries.
