WORK is underway to create a pedestrian crossing on the A40 by Wilton roundabout in Ross-on-Wye.

Highways England started the work on Monday, September 18 to install controlled signals for a crossing 40 metres to the east of the roundabout on the A40.

They will also be constructing a new shared footway/cycle path and carry out vegetation clearance and tree trimming on the roundabout.

The initial phase will be carried out under night time lane closures from 9pm to 6am.

Lane one of the A40 eastbound between the junctions with the A49 and the A449 will be closed from 9.30am to 6pm on September 22 (tomorrow).

Following this there will be a mixed programme of various lane and full closures throughout the scheme.

Work is expected to finish on December 4.
