RAILWAYS are back with an increase in the number of people using the trains.

The love of model railways from people ranging from young children to the elderly is enduring.

Craven Arms and District Model Railway Circle staged a popular exhibition at Ludlow racecourse.

The event enabled people to enjoy lay outs that have lovingly been built and maintained by modelling enthusiasts. It also provided a opportunity for a new generation to get involved in the hobby and to purchase trains and other materials and well as to pick up tips from the experts.

Amongst the lay-outs that attracted attention as one that showed Ludlow Railway station in the 1950’s before the fall of the Beeching axe that felling in the 1960’s and decimated railway service especially in rural areas including leading to the loss of the railway station that served Tenbury.

This was the report by Richard Beeching that led to the closure of thousands of miles or railway tracks and many stations on the grounds that they were no economic.
