A CHARITY ‘Bavarian Night’ will see a Cradley club transformed into a medieval tavern to help raise funds for a borough cause.

Wilson Hall in Colley Gate plays host to the event every year, which encourages guests to don their lederhosen and join fellow members of the community for an evening of German music, tankards of beer and a less-traditional dinner of fish and chips.

All of the money raised through the Labour club’s event – taking place on Friday, September 29 – will be donated to supporting the work of Mary Stevens Hospice, which cares for families who are coming to terms with the impact of life-limiting or terminal illnesses.

To provide their care for free, staff at the hospice must raise £2.8 million every year to keep the doors open.

However, 2017 marks a slightly loftier challenge for the fundraising team, as they are required to raise an additional £3 million for the hospice to undergo some much-needed modernisation, and increase capacity to meet demand.

Diane Moore, event lead at Mary Stevens Hospice, said: “Our Bavarian Night is always a fantastic evening, and the atmosphere is always brilliant.

“We’re privileged to be part of an incredibly tight local community, and to be able to have the opportunity to come together for a night of good fun, fish and chips and a few glasses of something nice really is just fantastic.

“To know that by doing so, we'll make our care available to even more families in their hour of need really just brings it all home, and we hope the community will join us for a great night in support of a great cause.”

Tickets cost £15 per person, and are available by visiting www.marystevenshospice.co.uk/event/bavarian-night or calling the hospice fundraising team on 01384 377 778.
