A NUMBER of roads in the Black Country and North Worcestershire will be closed today (Sunday) for the Velo Birmingham event.

It is expected that around 15,000 riders will descend on the Black Country, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Birmingham today (September 24) for the Velo Birmingham - a 100-mile closed roads charity bike ride.

There will be road closures in Halesowen, Stourbridge, Wyre Forest, Bromsgrove and surrounding areas at various times between 5am and 6pm.

Areas affected also include Hagley, Stourton, Kinver, Wolverley, Bewdley, Great Witley, Dodford, Belbroughton, Clent, Romsley and Frankley.

Residents and business owners based on or near the route are urged to visit velobirmingham.com/the-route/road-closures to check the updated road closure timings and how best to navigate around them.

CSM Active - who has organised the event - has stressed emergency services vehicles will be operating as usual and the public should use normal protocol in the case of an emergency.
