STAFF at an Amblecote GP surgery are inviting people to join them on a memory walk to help raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

The walk will start from Three Villages Medical Practice, based at Stourbridge Health and Social Care Centre, in John Corbett Drive, off Vicarage Road, on Saturday October 21.

Walkers will be taken on a three-mile round-trip stroll along the Stourbridge Canal to Wordsley's Red House Glass Cone in the sponsored event to help the national charity in its fight against dementia.

The Three Villages Memory Walk, which is suitable for people of all ages and abilities, is also being held in memory of Dr Liz Pope - a popular GP at the surgery who died in November 2013 - and a minute's silence will be held to remember the dedicated young doctor, who was just 38, at the start of the walk.

Money raised from the event will help the Alzheimer's Society to strengthen existing advice and support services for patients with dementia and their carers and to help fund cutting-edge research to help find new and effective treatments and ultimately a cure for the disease.

Practice manager Corinne Wood, receptionist Jess Humphries, operations manager Jon Garrett and Sue Helm, of the surgery's patient participation group, will be among those taking part along with family and friends.

Members of the public are welcome to join in with the walk too.

Walkers are asked to meet at the practice from midday onwards and the walk will start at around 12.30pm.

Hot drinks, and possibly cakes, will be available to buy for a donation to the charity.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to the cause can do so online at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/3vmpstourbridgememorywalk - or text TVMW84 £3 to 70070 to donate £3 from a mobile phone.

People can change the amount they wish to donate by typing in a different figure.
