AN historic pub in Dudley is set to reopen after a huge refurbishment which has seen the building undergo a 12-month upgrade project.

The Malt Shovel on Tower Street will reopen to customers on Friday October 20 at noon after the completion of major works.

The pubs new design has retained a traditional Black Country pub theme which has been respectful and sympathetic to the pub's value as a long-standing feature of the town centre landscape.

The Malt Shovel's offering of beverages is also rooted in the best of local brewing with a selection of cask ales available including beers from Holdens, Enville and Kinver.

There will also be specialist keg ale on offer from Fixed Wheel and brew houses further afield including Abbeydale, Kelham Island and Ossett.

Up to eight lagers and ciders will also be available including the self-titled Malt Shovel lager.

Traditional bar snacks will also be available including rustic cobs, scotch eggs, pork pies and crisps and scratchings.
