A CARD designed by a creative Black Country schoolboy will be sent to the Queen this Christmas.

Joseph Alexander Sheppard, a pupil at Foxyards Primary School in Tipton, has been announced as the winner of Dudley North MP Ian Austin's Christmas card competition.

His winning design, which shows Santa flying over the Houses of Parliament and Dudley’s famous landmarks, has now been made into cards that will be sent to hundreds of Dudley residents, charities, businesses and community groups.

Mr Austin will also post one to the Queen, Prime Minister and the Speaker of the House of Commons.

The cards, which have been professionally printed in full colour, also include the names and schools of the three runners up, who will also receive prizes of a family ticket to the Black Country Living Museum and gift vouchers for Hobbycraft.

Joseph won a family ticket to Dudley Zoo.

Mr Austin said: “Yet again, the standard of this year’s entrants has been really high. I loved Joseph's design of a Christmas scene with well-known Dudley landmarks such as the castle and zoo.

“I’d like to thank all of the children and the schools who entered, and the local businesses who donated prizes.”
