HOSPITAL bosses in Worcestershire have taken on board a series of recommendations setting out how a repeat of the circumstances which allowed Jimmy Saville to abuse patients can be avoided.
A report into how the disgraced TV presenter was able to get away with abusing patients for so long by former barrister Kate Lampard has set out nine recommendations for hospital trusts to adopt to ensure no such abuse can be repeated.
The governing body of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust discussed the report at a meeting on Thursday, May 28 where they heard some of the recommendations were already covered by the organisation’s policies, while others were in the process of being reviewed.
Among the recommendations are to ensure all volunteers are properly trained and supervised, restrict access to the internet where appropriate and regularly reviewing policies.
Jimmy Saville is not believed to have ever visited a hospital in Worcestershire.
