SCHOOLCHILDREN from Worcester have taken part in a host of fundraising activities both in and outside school to raise money for leprosy sufferers.

The youngsters from Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College tried out a disco, a film night, a sponsored silence, cake sales, mountaineering, the ice bucket challenge and bike riding to raise money for international charity LEPRA.

Lindsay Jones, director of studies for Year 7, said: "I am very proud of the commitment and generosity of my year group.

"They worked very hard and with huge enthusiasm to help change the lives of those less fortunate than themselves."

Gill Wilkinson from LEPRA visited the College earlier this month to award certificates and prizes to all of the students who took part.

She thanked all of the students and teachers for their help in raising funds to treat, educate and rehabilitate people in India, Bangladesh and Mozambique.
