A MIXED martial artist from a Kidderminster gym is getting set for one of the biggest fights of his career at a prestigious tournament.

David Khalsa, who trains at Russell Perks Martial Arts Academy, will take on Cian Cowley at the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts event on May 12.

The event is being held at the Genting Arena in Birmingham and will be headlined by a bout between Brett McDermott and Ruben Wolf.

The 29-year-old has been training at Russell Perks’ academy for five years and been competing for two and a half years. The former amateur world lightweight champion’s current record stands of six wins and one defeat.

His opponent will be fighting out of the famous SBG Dublin gym where MMA champ Conor McGregor trains.

Mr Perks said: “This fight is scheduled to be a war between these two fighters and stands a good possibility to be televised on Channel 5 and Spike TV.”
