A HOTEL in Bewdley has been renamed to reflect its location and heritage of the 1870's property.

Juniper Hotels has renamed the Mercure Kidderminster Hotel, off Habberley Road, to the Mercure Bewdley the Heath Hotel.

The Victorian hotel is located in Bewdley, surrounded by 20 acres of countryside and features original carved doors, fireplaces and stained glass windows.

'The Heath' was the hotel's original name and it is still affectionately known as this to the local community, so it was decided to honour this with its new name to commemorate the buildings' history and heritage.

Peter Nye, cluster general manager, said: "As a local to the hotel myself, I fully understand and support the importance of recognising the hotel's proud status within the Bewdley community, reflecting its position within the beautiful Worcestershire countryside and honouring the original title of the property which is captured in the new name."

Shane Harris, CEO of Juniper Hotels, added: "The change in name of the Mercure Kidderminster to the Mercure Bewdley the Heath Hotel, demonstrates our continued commitment to the locally inspired growth and transformation of our hotel portfolio in the UK and establishing our hotels as cornerstones within their local communities."

The Mercure Bewdley the Heath Hotel features a variety of modern-style classic rooms or refurbished Victorian rooms - which all feature HD LED televisions and complimentary high-speed WiFi. There is a 25 metre indoor pool at the onsite Feel Good Health Club and other leisure activities include the Bewdley Pines Golf Club nearby.
