LOOKING for something to do this weekend?

1. BEER FESTIVAL

CAMRA Beer, Cider & Perry Festival, Worcester Racecourse, Saturday noon to 10pm

The popular three-day festival is back and in full swing. This is the 18th year that the festival has been in Worcester and, this year, visitors are promised food and entertainment combined more than 170 ales (bitters, lagers, milds, porters and stouts) and more than 100 ciders and perries.

Today is the last day for the beer festival and tickets can be booked in advance via the Worcester Festival Box Office: 01905 611427. Tickets are £13 (£6 entry and £7 strike card).

2. TRIP TO THE THEATRE

Alice in Wonderland at The Swan Theatre, Saturday, 1pm and 5pm

The Swan Theatre has Alice in Wonderland on today at 1pm and 5pm. The show is performed by the award winning children’s theatre company Tread the Boards Theatre.

Tickets are £12 for adults, and £10 for U16s. A family of four ticket is £38.

The Jerseys , The Swan Theatre, Sunday, 7.30pm-10pm

The Jerseys are a hugely successful UK tribute band to Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons and the famous musical ‘The Jersey Boys’.

They have previously sung for the Queen at Windsor Castle and their performance at The Swan Theatre will kick off the second leg of a national tour.

A visit to The Jerseys will bring some pop-rock hits of the 60s and 70s to life through singing and dance routines.

Tickets are £17 (concessions £15).

3. LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS

Last Night of the New Road Proms, Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Saturday, 7.30-10pm

Take a picnic blanket and hamper down to the cricket club to enjoy a thrilling night of classical music with the added bonus of the beautiful scenic backdrop of Worcester Cathedral.

The 47 piece National Symphony Orchestra will be performing a breath-taking concert on Saturday evening.

Tickets are £35 for adults, and £16 for children aged 5-16.

4. EVENING SAFARI

Summer Nights at West Midland Safari and Leisure Park, Bewdley, Saturday, 9am-9.30pm (last admission at 7pm)

The Summer Nights Safari is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a four mile evening safari, whilst having the chance to see the stunning animals in an entirely different atmosphere.

Admission includes a range of activities including The Drive-Through Safari, Land of the Living Dinosaurs, Boj’s Giggly Park, Sea Lion Show, Reptile World, African Village, SeaQuarium, Creepy Crawlies and more.

Ticket prices vary for ages and circumstances.

5. LOOK AT MARILYN'S DRESS

Celebrity Exhibition, Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, Saturday and Sunday, 10.30am-4.30pm

Celebrity features iconic props and memorabilia from throughout the ages of showbiz.

The exhibition includes items such as Marilyn Monroe’s little black dress, the prominent purple coat from ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’, props from some of the most acclaimed movies like ‘Titanic’, and signed items from famous musical artists (such as Oasis and Chuck Berry).

Younger visitors can disguise themselves as a star and play their favourite songs through the jukebox.

Entry is free for everyone.

6. TAKE A QUIZ

Family Prize Quiz Trail, Huntingdon Hall, Sunday, 11am-3pm

For the duration of the Worcester Festival, families have the opportunity to take part in a free 20 quiz question challenge.

The answers can only be found with a look around the city (approx three quarters of a mile), guided by a form you can pick up from the box office in CrownGate.

Those who answer all questions correctly will go into a prize draw to win a family ticket for four for the Swan Theatre Pantomime, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, later this year.

This event is free for everyone.

7. VISIT AN ART EXHIBITION

A slice of Worcestershire Open Studios Taster, The Hive, Worcester, Saturday, 8.30am-10pm

This is the last day you can enjoy a preview of some of the skilful local artwork that will be part of the upcoming Worcestershire Open Studios debut.

The display, which can be found in the café area and cabinets, features a range of artwork such as painting, photography, textiles, ceramics and even jewellery.

Entry is free for all.

8. GO ON A FLOWER HUNT

‘Become a Flower Explorer’ trail, Croome, near Worcester, Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm

A beautiful trail for children to search the parkland and become a ‘flower explorer’.

Children will be tasked with helping ‘Capability’ Brown on a journey to find the perfect flowers at Croome. Dogs on leads are welcome to join in on the fun.

The trail is set within Croome Park, run by the National Trust, and filled with lots to see and do for a family day out.

The event ticket is £2.50, but admission prices (also necessary) vary.
