A CHARITY dedicated to making hospital services better for Wyre Forest patients has taken its spending on equipment to more than £120,000 this year.

The latest area of Kidderminster Hospital to benefit from the work of the League of Friends is the day surgery unit which has received six state-of-the-art mobile blood pressure monitors.

The £8,000 purchase follows new equipment provided by the Friends for the imaging, dental and breast units as well as the Wyre Forest Ward since the turn of the year.

Ward 1 manager Debbie Tunnicliffe said the machines are wi-fi enabled and can be linked up to a national early warning system for patients who may be at risk.

She added: “The equipment will improve the patient experience and we are grateful to the Friends for being so supportive and making such a difference to us on a busy ward.”

Each day Ward 1 handles up to 40 patients who are recovering from operations performed at the Kidderminster site.
