POLICE seized a van and hit speeding motorists with fines during an enforcement operation in Kidderminster.

Officers and PCSOs from the Oldington, Foley and Sutton Park Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out the targeted initiative on Monday, October 23.

This was conducted after concerns were raised about speeding vehicles at a recent council meeting held in Kidderminster.

Enforcement on the day focused on Silverwoods Way- the link road between the A451 Stourport Road and the A442 Worcester Road. This is a new road which runs close to the new Wyre Forest Leisure Centre.

As a result, officers stopped 27 vehicles that were driving over the speed limit of 30mph, and issued them with fixed penalty notices. As well as this, a van was seized for no tax.

The operation was undertaken by PCs Paul Noke, Stephen Thomas, Andy Wallace, Andy Gilbert and Neil Bennett, Special Inspector David Taylor, Special Constables Alex Cookson and Joseph Gargano with Police Community Support Officer Andy Stevens.

PCSO Andy Stevens said: "The operation was well received by local residents that spoke to us on the evening and most of the drivers stopped were understanding of what we were doing.

"The Safer Neighbourhood Team at Oldington, Foley & Sutton Park were grateful for the assistance by roads policing and special constables, it was a great learning opportunity for some of the newer Special Constables based at Stourport Police Station ".

He added that further operations will be run in the near future.
