A DRUGS den raided by police earlier this week has been boarded up and the occupants have been evicted.

The closure of the property in Shepherds Place, Droitwich means the occupants and all visitors will be excluded for three months.

A man, aged 27, and a woman, 24, were then arrested at the address for possession with intent to supply class B drugs, after a quantity of cannabis was found in the property on Tuesday (November 14).

Two children, aged two and four, were also in the home when more than a dozen police, including a dog handler and one armed with a Taser, smashed down the front door.

PC Rich Rees, from the Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This a fantastic piece of legislation and so effective in combating anti-social behaviour.

“It has recently been successfully used in Worcester and at another problem address we had in Droitwich.”

“By closing down this address it will give some rest bite to the other residents on Shepherds Place who have had to witness drug dealing, fights, arguments and threats from these people and their visitors.

“A decision to close an address down is not taken likely.

“However the behaviour of the occupants has had a significant detrimental effect on the community and it is also an important step in our aim to rid the area of drugs.”

During the three month period, the landlord of the property can apply for permanent eviction.
