A DRIVER has been treated for injuries after their vehicle overturned on an icy Bewdley road.

Police, ambulance and fire services attended the scene of an overturned vehicle on the B4194, 'Switchback', in Bewdley at around 6.30am today (Thursday, December 14).

A fire crew from Bewdley made the vehicle safe while the driver was treated on the scene by West Midlands Ambulance service personnel.

A spokesman from West Midland Ambulance Service said: "We were called at around 6.30am to Ribbesford Road, just to the south of Bewdley.

"The caller said that the car had turned onto its side after colliding with the grass verge at slow speed.

"The driver, a 22-year-old male, had got out the vehicle before we arrived.

"We assessed for a minor laceration to his forehead and small cuts to his left hand. He didn't want to go to hospital, so he was discharged at the scene.

"An ambulance attended the scene."

The fire service described the road as "extremely icy" and Worcestershire Highways have been requested to grit the road.
