POLICE are urgently appealing for witnesses after a vulnerable man was viciously beaten by a group of thugs in Kidderminster.

Officers believe three or four men kicked and punched the victim in the head and body, which left him unconscious, dislodged his teeth and resulted in a cut to his eye and grazes to his arm.

The shocking incident, which happened between 9am and 9.30pm on Saturday, May 19 on Avon Road, has left investigating officers appalled.

It is believed the men shouted out to the man, who police have described as ‘vulnerable’, before launching into the assault. He was knocked out and woke up on the floor some time later.

The victim – who has suffered an assault before – did not tell anyone about the incident until the following Monday (May 21) when it was reported to the police.

When officers attended to interview him, an ambulance was called to assess his injuries and check him over.

PC Callum Archer, who is investigating the assault, said "This appears to be a cowardly attack on a vulnerable male early on Saturday morning.

“We understand it is not the first time he has been assaulted and I am appalled that anyone could do this to him.

“I am urging anyone who was in the area who heard shouting or saw the assault or can help identify the men to please contact us on 101 quoting incident 290s of 210518 as soon as possible."
