WORCESTER Cathedral Chamber Choir will be joining forces with its Lichfield counterpart this weekend, “for an evocative musical commemoration of the centenary since the end of the First World War”.

A spokesman added: “The concert, in Lichfield Cathedral, marks the revival of an already successful musical partnership which formed three years ago when the two groups united in Worcester for a performance of Handel’s Israel In Egypt.

“That evening was met with great acclaim and both choirs’ Musical Directors have been eager to repeat the experience ever since.”

Musical director, Stephen Shellard said: “We really enjoyed welcoming Lichfield’s choir to our cathedral, and the memory of conducting our massed forces, and the success of that night is still vivid for me.

“We always said we would make the return trip and it’s just a shame that it’s taken us three years to organise it!”

Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir will be performing Haydn’s Missa in Tempore Belli as part of the In Times of War concert, on Saturday, June 23,from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, in Lichfield Cathedral.
