VOLUNTEERS have been commended for completing a course to help Bromsgrove Council support parents and families across the district.

On Wednesday, November 8, six participants were presented with certificates for finishing an eight-week peer support and volunteer induction course, enabling them to work alongside the council's Parenting and Family Support Service.

Cllr Margaret Sherrey, whose portfolio covers health and wellbeing, said: "Volunteers are so important in assisting our services and it is clear that this is a group of very enthusiastic people who have enjoyed learning on this course, putting them in a good position when they commence their placements."

The course covered topics like communication skills, body language, confidentiality, assertiveness, and learning styles.

Participants will soon take on placements, volunteering alongside qualified practitioners across Bromsgrove and Redditch.
