THE Cider Mill in Hampton, Evesham raised £700 for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity through a dog show.

"This is the first time we have ever tried to organise an event like this and we weren’t sure how it would be received but the feedback both on the day and on our Facebook page has been fantastic” said landlady Julia Gittus.

“We can always relay on our locals to support whatever charitable events we hold, but what was really overwhelming was that we had dogs and their owners coming from as far afield as Worcester to take part”.

“We were so lucky to secure the support of Just for Pets who not only donated vouchers to all class winners and doggy goodie bags and treats for those who didn’t win, but also set up a ‘pop-up shop’ for visitors on the day which contributed to the overall success”.

“What’s really encouraging is that so many people have asked if we can make this an annual event so planning has already started to make it bigger and better next year – and Just for Pets have confirmed that they will support us again which is great”

Rebecca Hitchcock, regional support manager of Just for Pets, said: “I owe my husband’s life to the Midlands Air Ambulance.

"Seven years ago he was involved in a horrendous motorbike accident and, if he hadn’t been airlifted to hospital he may not have survived his injuries.

"It’s thanks to them and the nursing staff that he has made such a fantastic recovery”.
