A teenage boy's heart stopped and he had to be revived at the roadside by passers-by and paramedics after a crash.

The 16-year-old boy's heart stopped after the bike he was riding was in a crash with a silver Land Rover Freelander.

Bystanders started CPR before paramedics arrived and took over the life-saving efforts.

He was air lifted to hospital and is now in a critical condition.

Police said he had suffered a serious head injury.

The crash happened in Buckle Street in Honeybourne near Evesham.

Police, paramedics and two air ambulances attended the scene.

The injured boy was air lifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened around 1.20pm today (Thursday).

They want to know if anyone saw the crash between the bike and the silver Land Rover Freelander, which was travelling towards Bidford?

A spokesman said: "Enquiries are currently ongoing but investigating officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident or people who saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision to come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 312S of 14 September."

Buckle Street was closed up to the crossroad with Blake's Hill but was expected to reopen before 6pm.
