A DRINK driver has been banned after getting behind the wheel at twice the limit.

Max Tarry of Scobell Close, Pershore, admitted drink driving when he appeared before magistrates in Worcester.

The 25-year-old was pulled over in his BMW by police on the A46 near Evesham on August 27 at around 1.50am.

Kerry Lovegrove, prosecuting, said officers could smell alcohol on Tarry's breath and he was given a roadside breath test which he failed.

The evidential reading, taken later at the police station, was 68mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, close to twice the limit of 35mcg.

Tarry, who represented himself at the hearing, told magistrates he had been able to keep job despite the inevitable driving ban they would serve upon him.

A reference was handed up from his employer.

He told magistrates: "It won't happen again."

Tarry was fined £120, ordered to pay £135 costs and disqualified from driving for 17 months. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £30.

Tarry was offered a drink drive course which, if completed successfully, will reduce the length of his ban by 25 per cent.

He must pay for himself and complete it before August 17 next year.
