EVESHAM Royal Air Force Association held their annual Battle of Britain parade and ceremony at the Waterside cemetery.

This popular annual event was held on Friday September 15 with the help of a large contingent of pupils, teachers and helpers from Bengeworth CE Academy, De Montfort School, St. Andrews CE First School, St. Edgwins CE Middle School and Swan Lane First School.

Also in attendance were members of ex-service organisation with their standard bearers; the Royal Air Force Association, the British Legion, Pershore and District Royal Naval Association and the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Association.

The parade was attended by Mrs. Britten-Long, deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire; Councillor Mrs. Elizabeth Eyre, chairman of Wychavon District Council; Stuart Carter, Town Clerk of Evesham Town Council; councillor Richard Jones, Evesham Town Mayor and several other members of Wychavon District and Evesham Town Councils.

The Rev Mark Binney officiated at the ceremony with the last post and reveille being played by local trumpet player Sue Sollis.

The parade was led by Royal Air Force Veteran, Mr. Roy Bates, vice chairman of the Evesham Branch of the British Legion.
