WORCESTER gardeners will be given a treat when hundreds of unusual plants from all over the world go on display in Pershore.

The show organised by the Alpine Garden Society (AGS) has moved to Pershore High School in Station Road, Pershore.

The show will be open from 11am to 3.30pm on Saturday February 24.

The Pershore event is one of 22 shows that the society is organising this year around the UK and Ireland.

Britain’s finest growers of alpine plants will converge on the town bringing plants they have grown for display.

There will also be thousands of hard-to-find plants for sale from specialist nurseries..

Christine McGregor, director of the Alpine Garden Society, said: "It’s an event that no gardener can afford to miss, with hundreds of specimen plants on show and the chance to buy a superb range of plants for the garden, many of which are not available in garden centres.

"It’s not just alpines that will be on show or on sale.

"Our members take a great interest in all sorts of plants such as woodland plants, hardy orchids, bulbs, dwarf conifers, ferns, shrubs and perennials."

The Alpine Garden Society, which has thousands of members all over the world, is a regular exhibitor at the Chelsea Flower Show and has won 20 gold medals over the years.

There will be plenty of experts on hand to answer questions about how to grow these plants, as well as a wide range of gardening and plant books for sale.

A second Alpine Garden Society show will be held at Pershore High School on Saturday July 7.
