A KIND Kidderminster car mechanic has shaved off his long locks to raise thousands for children’s cancer charity.

Matt Maund, who works at Vauxhall retailer CMS Kidderminster as a service technician, braved the shave and went completely bald in support of the Little Princess Trust.

The charity uses hair donated to make wigs for children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses. It also grants for funds for research into finding causes and cures.

And the Hartlebury resident’s efforts saw him raise £2,000 – way above his initial target of £300 thanks to his family, friends and colleagues at CMS Kidderminster.

This is the third time that Matt has shaved his head in aid of charity, having previously raised money for Cancer Research and St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester.

Matt said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount of money for the Little Princess Trust. The work the charity does is of huge importance, which is why I am happy to help out any way I can.

“I couldn’t think of a more wholesome and deserving charity to support, and I just wanted to thank everybody who donated, we absolutely smashed our fundraising target.

“Who knows, there may be a fourth instalment at some point soon - so watch this space.”

Luke Mezzone, Sales and Marketing Director at CMS Kidderminster, added: “Everyone here at CMS Kidderminster couldn’t be more proud of Matt, the extent he will go for others is highly commendable.

“That’s why the team here were thrilled to get behind Matt and donate what we could.”
