MORE than 30 jobs have been created at a new Kidderminster supermarket which is set to open tomorrow (November 16).

Aldi will open its second supermarket in the Kidderminster area, with a new store in Silverwoods Way, bringing 32 jobs to the area.

The official grand opening on Thursday will be carried out by Team GB rower Matt Gotrel and members from dog rescue charity, Happy Staffie Rescue - with a guest appearance from Kevin the Carrot, from Aldi's Christmas television advert.

Olympic gold medallist Matt will hand out specially made crackers to the first 100 customers in the queue for a chance to win £100 worth of vouchers to spend on their Christmas feast.

The Silverwoods Way store is also donating a selection of dog toys and treats to Happy Staffie Rescue as a festive treat.

Trevor Wilson, store manager, said: "We are really looking forward to opening our new store in Kidderminster with the help of everyone's favourite vegetable, Kevin the Carrot.

"It is set to be a great morning - we are giving the shoppers the chance to win their Christmas dinner on us and have a wide range of quality, award-winning Christmas products already in store."

Matt Gotrel added: "Kevin the Carrot has once again stolen the hearts of the nation, so it is great to be able to hand out crackers on his behalf and join in the fun, I am really looking forward to it."

The new store will be open Monday to Saturday between 8am and 10pm, and Sundays between 10am and 4pm.

Aldi is still recruiting for a variety of roles in the area, with more information on aldirecruitment.co.uk/stores.
