AN Alcester charity shop is appealing for community support to help more local people affected by brain injury.

The Headway shop, on High Street, is calling for donations of clothes, bric-a-brac, household goods, toys, games, electrical goods and any other items in a bid to replenish stock before the busy Christmas period.

The charity shop is run by Headway – the brain injury association, which works to support people affected by brain injury and their families.

"We are in need of help from good-spirited local residents who want to make a difference," said shop manager Rachael Avery

"As we rely entirely upon donations, community support is more important than ever to help us continue delivering vital frontline services to brain injury survivors and their families.

"With Christmas around the corner why not clear out some cupboard space to make room for new gifts? Whether it's toys the kids have grown out of or clothes you never wear, your donations will be helping people directly affected by brain injury to rebuild their lives.

“The effects of brain injury can be devastating and some people have to start from scratch, relearning the most basic of life skills such as walking and talking. But not enough people know about brain injury and the work Headway does to help those affected."

She added: "We tend to only think about charities like Headway when we need their help, but without the support of the public, they wouldn't be able to provide their vital support.

"Even the smallest contribution can make a big impact. Don't forget if you are a tax payer and can Gift Aid to your donations we can raise 25 per cent more cash for each item sold."

People can donate buy handing items to the shop.
