A PLOT of land in Redditch which has sat vacant for a decade could become home to 16 new assisted-living apartments.

The Blockworks Group has submitted a planning application for the development of 16 apartments on the corner of Ludlow Road/Evesham Street to cater for people with mental health needs.

A planning statement said: “The Blockworks Group propose to develop the vacant site to provide a small, high-quality development of assisted living apartments for people with mental health needs.

“This need has been identified by Worcestershire NHS Trust and Worcester Clinical Commissioning Group, who have approved the site location and have been consulted during the building design.”

The site, which is 300m from Redditch town centre, has been fenced off for 10 years since the original building, Park House, was demolished in 2008.

Planning permission for apartments and retail units was previously granted in 2013, but construction was halted.
