IT was all hands to the pumps at Tenbury Fire Station as fire fighters spent four hours cleaning cars for charity.

Firefighters, Milo Jackson, Ben Davies, Todd Wright, Tom Puch and his son Henry and watch commanders Ian Bowkett and Chris Giles spent four washing vehicles at the station to raise funds for the Firefighters Charity.

The crew at the fire station stage regular events including the washing of cars to help to raise money for the charity that helps support their colleagues.

As is the case with many rural areas the fire fighters at Tenbury are not full time but operate on an on-call basis and if often have other jobs. But they have to be able to drop everything when a call comes.

There have been on-going problems in Tenbury and other rural stations with recruiting retained fire fighters.
