A MAN was assaulted in an 'unprovoked assault' after he told two men he did not have a cigarette.

The attack happened at about 3.30pm on Friday, May 17, in the alleyway near the Tesco Express in Brindley Road, Warndon Villages, Worcester.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was walking through the alleyway and approaching the exit when two men asked him if he had a cigarette. He told them he did not and carried on walking at which point they assaulted him. The two men then ran off back up the alleyway in the direction of Tesco Express.

He sustained minor injuries to his face and arm but did not require medical treatment.

Both men are white, in their mid 20s, about 5ft 10ins in height and of medium build. One was wearing a blue hooded top with the hood up and the other was wearing a white t-shirt.

Investigating officer, PC Andrew Todd said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack so we are eager to hear from anyone who was the area on Friday afternoon and thinks they know who the offenders are.

“Anyone with information that does not wish to disclose their personal details are reminded they can pass information on anonymously via Crimestoopers.”
