A WORCESTER woman had her long locks cut short to help youngsters battling with cancer.

Haidee Bradley, aged 21, was inspired to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust after her nan, Betty, died of cancer on July 31.

Miss Bradley said: "Nan had lost a lot of her hair when she died, and I had always had a thing about my own hair, and I realised I was being selfish, when some people have no hair at all."

The Little Princess Trust uses real donated hair to make wigs for children who have lost their hair through treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Miss Bradley, of Rainbow Hill, took herself along to David Benbow hairdressers on the London Road, on September 10, and braced herself for a new look, - minus a pony tail.

The hair has now been sent to the Trust in Hove, where it will be turned into a wig for a child.

Miss Bradley, who also lost her mum, Kath, to cancer, only three years ago, said of the hair-donation scheme: "I would encourage other people to do what I did. It's helping others, at the end of the day."

She decided not to seek sponsorship for her hair cut, because it was a personal gesture.

The Little Princess Trust partnered Macmillan during their Shave or Style campaign in July 2014, when supporters had to chose whether to "brave the shave" or don a new do in aid of Macmillan, whilst donating their locks to the Little Princess Trust.
