CHILDREN from a Worcester primary school got the chance to see behind the scenes at a popular city eatery this week.

A group of 22 year six pupils from Gorse Hill Community Primary School visited Harvester Timberdine in Bath Road – which recently underwent an extensive revamp – to learn about healthy eating.

The trip, which was free for students and funded by the area’s Local Policing Team, was part of a scheme run by Harvester promoting healthy eating among schoolchildren and saw youngsters take part in a blindfolded taste test and a number of other activities.

Year six teacher Sharon Davies said the children especially enjoyed the chance to quiz the restaurant’s chefs.

“My favourite questions were what inspired you to become a chef and how many meals do you cook in a day,” she said.

“The answer was about 700 meals every day which amazed the children.

“They also got a main course and a pudding as part of the trip which they thoroughly enjoyed.

“I didn’t see any empty plates.”

Two more groups of pupils from the school’s year six and year five classes will also visit the restaurant this week to take part in the scheme.
