THE skies are getting darker, everywhere is becoming gloomier and Halloween is just around the corner.

It is also time for more brave souls to attempt the devilishly difficult Evil Rising: Possessed chase game which will be resurrected this year from Tuesday, October 28.

This year More is More, the brains behind the scare event, have put together a dastardly plan to motivate people to complete the challenge by offering teams £1,313 if every member finishes it.

Taking place in an undisclosed venue in Worcester, Scott Jenkins from More is More said this year's game focused on a local legend.

"This year it is centred on a legend we used to tell each other when we were children of Carmella Vella.

"Though it is important to say that the story is not based on anyone living or dead, we have just used the name."

The story begins in the 1970s and an old lady is believed to have squirrelled away treasure and hidden it in her house.

After her death, some solicitors looking after her estate went to see if they can find the treasure but they end up dying in mysterious circumstances.

Fast forward to the 1990s and a group of students try and speak to her spirit but one ends up possessed.

A spooky emergency phone call reveals they have all died and it might have been at the hands of Carmella.

Mr Jenkins, who runs More is More with James Newman, said: "If the groups can solve the mystery, finish as a team and do everything that is asked of them they could win £1,313.

"They will be under extreme pressure and have to work as a team to be able to unlock the box and reveal the prize.

"It is all set on a private estate and for the first time there will be a maze as part of the route.

"Last year, about 30 people didn't complete the challenge and used our safe word "flim flam" which lets everyone know they want to stop."

Make up students are involved in turning voluntary actors into ghouls while James Edwards has been responsible for writing this year's script.

It runs until Saturday, November 1 and the popular children's Trick or Treat event, for ages six and up, will take place on Friday, October 31.
