A DISABILITY charity in Worcester has won almost £50,000 from The People’s Millions funding programme.

Worcester Snoezelen found out this afternoon that it scooped the major cash prize after winning a public vote.

The St John’s based charity will create a specialist activity area for children and adults with disabilities with the funding.

Jane Roberts, chief officer of Worcester Snoezelen, said: “It is absolutely fabulous to think our little charity has won this massive competition.

“A lot of this is down to Worcestershire backing us and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone that voted.

“We also could not have done it without our amazing staff team, volunteers, service members, parents and carers, and all our fantastic supporters.”

The charity, which specialises in providing multi-sensory and creative activities for people who have physical and learning disabilities, will receive £49,741 in total.

This funding will be used to create a specialist activity area with interactive equipment, a sensory ball pool and an interactive floor projection system.

A feature on the project will be aired on ITV’S Central News at 6pm this evening.
