A WORCESTER-based company will dedicate a year to fundraising for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign.

Blackpole-based insurance solutions provider Open GI has chosen the campaign as its corporate charity partner for the year, meaning Open GI staff will volunteer, raise awareness and funds for the campaign, which has been backed by your Worcester News since its inception in October 2009.

In December builders were given the go-ahead to begin work on the life-saving unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, which now only needs £480,000 to pay for furniture.

Chris Guillaume, group chief executive at Open GI, said: “We are proud to be supporting Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign for the second time, since we first supported the campaign in 2011. We’ve set ourselves an aspiring fundraising target for 2015 of £8000, but one which I am certain we can achieve through the ongoing passion and enthusiasm of our employees, for such an important cause.”

Steven Thrush, consultant breast surgeon, said: “Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign welcomes the opportunity to work with corporate partners such as Open GI and are delighted to have been chosen as their 2015 charity partner of the year. With their help and support we can continue to provide cutting edge clinical facilities and equipment."
