A WORCESTER musician says he is "incredibly excited" to be releasing his first solo EP.

Scott Howland, who lives in Lower Wick, will launch the four-track EP — entitled Favourite Hello — this Sunday.

The 24-year-old has been working on his solo music alongside performing with his two sisters and friend in Done By Sunrise, which Scott says is going from "strength to strength".

"My solo music is a side project to Done By Sunrise. The band is still going very strong, but I am really excited to be releasing my EP. I have been working with local producer Ben Stancombe on making it sound perfect.

"It makes me extremely excited to see it finally come together and see the final product hit the stores. I love the stripped back feel of Favourite Hello but my favourite song on the EP is probably Free, as it feels very much like a pop song and very summery at the same time."

The EP will be available to buy on all the major online music stores, such as iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify.

Scott has been writing and performing music for the past four years, honing his folk/indie pop sound and constantly building contacts in the music industry, travelling as far as Italy and the USA to meet producers and promoters ahead of the release of his EP.

As well as working on his solo music, Scott will perform with Done by Sunrise at various festivals this summer, including Severn Sounds Festival, which is held in the Pavilion in the Park on Tybridge Street in Worcester from May 29-31.

Done by Sunrise will perform alongside the Secrets, Haunted Souls, Sasha McVeigh, Of Kings and Captains and more.

Ben Russell, who organises the festival alongside Scott, said: "We cannot wait for the festival to begin. Its been a year in the making and it has grown so much. We are fortunate to have a committee with great skills who have helped us organise this year's event and every one of them deserves a pat on the back for creating something as good as we hope it to be."

The festival raises money for two local charities, New Hope and Acorns Children's Hospice.
