A RAMBLING Reverend has returned from his walk of almost 200 miles — although he says he could have kept on walking.

Chris Stuart, vicar of St John-in-Bedwardine Church, St Clement's Church, and St David's Church in Worcester, embarked on a 192 mile walk over two weeks from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire.

He returned last Wednesday and described the challenge as "incredible" and "definitely worth doing".

"It was fantastic. I came home with no blisters, no broken bones, and although I thought I would be completely shattered, I was actually fine and somehow wished I had walked for longer. I never thought I would be saying that," he said.

"I saw such wonderful scenery and was so lucky with the weather, it was brilliant sunshine for most of the days. Although on one day I was walking on the moors with my wife when a blizzard hit. We had to walk about a mile off our route to get to a farm house and the people living there kindly took us in and warmed us up.

"It was brilliant though and such a great thing to do and people have been very generous."

Although his target was £1,000, Rev'd Stuart has raised £3,500 for Maggs Day Centre and the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, and the donations are still coming in.
